Fashion designer Wayne Cooper says he is in “deep shock” after being accused of attacking his wife Sarah Marsh and hitting him with a restraining order.

Cooper, who was previously convicted of assaulting former Marsh model, was arrested on May 31 at his home in Myocum near Byron Bay, in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

He was charged with two counts of the usual domestic violence attack and a temporary arrest warrant was issued against him.

Cooper said he was “extremely upset” and “had no idea this was going to happen.”

Born in Britain, Cooper grew up in London’s East End and moved to Australia in 1985, studying fashion design at East Sydney Technical College.

The attack happened when Marsh tried to show how Cooper allegedly pushed her while she was on holiday in Port Douglas in the far north of Queensland.

Mr McClintock said his client showed Marsh what he believes happened by pushing her onto her chest and shoulder.

The court heard Marsh’s surgery just days before the attack to remove her gallbladder due to cancer.

Cooper tried unsuccessfully to avoid condemnation so he could continue his regular travels to the United States.
