Tori Spelling and 15-year-old Liam Dean McDermott identify as trance, according to Dad

During the weekend screening of his latest film, My fake boyfriend, Dean McDermott he made sweet shouts to his children in the audience – and revealed one reason why he loves the new film – on Instagram story published by his eldest son, Jack.

“What I love about this film is that I have to share it with my 15-year-old who identifies as trance and my gay son,” McDermott said proudly, to applause. “I like that they have a safe space to come and watch this.”

This is the first time that McDermott or Spelling has publicly mentioned that 15-year-old Liam identifies as trance, although McDermott shared a series of photos on Instagram last week showing Pride celebrating with Jack and Liam (in a pair of tie-dye jumpsuits, for starters!). The day started with a sweet brunch and included hanging out with Lisa Vanderpump. “We had BLAST!” McDermott wrote. There was no word on whether or when Liam’s favorite pronouns or names would change, although McDermott continued to refer to the couple as “my boys” in the post – it is unclear whether this was intentional or out of habit.

In response to some of the reactions he received in comments about taking Liam to pride, McDermott wrote: “The great power I believe in. . . He loves everyone regardless of their color, sexuality or religion. Also, there is NO sexualization of children by taking them to PRIDE. It is a celebration of life. You love and respect all of humanity. That is our job here on earth. To love each other and leave that better place for the next generation. I have amazing children. Gay, Straight, and they will change the world and make a difference. If you don’t like it, please DO NOT follow. I don’t want to and I don’t have to hear your negative shit. “

Spelling equally supported the identity of her children, noting in an honest post about her stepson Jack’s 21st birthday that the two “found each other on a new level with a whole new respect for each other” after Jack became gay at 17 years old. “I was so proud of his confidence,” she wrote. “He was what he was and he was proud of it.”

With parents who accept, affirm and encourage like these, Liam is one happy child.
