Times when celebrities were homophobic or transphobic

It’s a month of pride, which is amazing. However, in the past year there has been unprecedented discrimination and prejudice against the LGBTQ population and alarming amounts of anti-LGBTQ legislation.

It was also surprising a year ago when it comes to celebrities who support the LGTBQ community, so it is important to understand that homophobia and transphobia are still alive.

Here are 13 times celebrities have been homophobic or transphobic in the past year:

Too hot to handle star Harry Jowsey called James Charles is an insult to Touch U podcast:

In the episode, he told the podcast host, “James Charles is trying to fuck me. You don’t know who he is? He’s just some fagot.” He later he apologized.

DaBaby described people living with HIV as “nasty” and “drug addicts”:

After saying that people living with HIV are “drug addicts” and “nasty”, DaBaby faced many backlash from celebrities and fans. He eventually issued a semi-excuse.

And then Dave Chappelle he joked about the situation in his Netflix special The Closer.

He he said DaBaby “broke the LGBTQ community right into AIDS.” He also said that he thinks that the word “feminist” means “bad whores”.

Boosie BadAzz posted wild anti-gay Twitter rant o Lil Nas X:

In his live Instagram, Lil Nas X joked about his collaboration with Boosie, which led him to the above-mentioned chatter.

Boosie didn’t apologize, but Lil Nas X did turn to a rage tweet jokingly:

I’m really sad. I have never been so horrified in my life. I can’t believe Disney Channel hasn’t played Halloween town all October.

Ricky Gervais was called out for antitrans jokes in his Netflix special Supernature:

“Full disclosure: In real life, of course, I support trans rights,” he says. “I support all human rights, and trans rights are human rights. Live your best life. Use the desired pronouns. Be the kind you feel you are. But meet me halfway, ladies: Lose your dick. That’s all I’m saying. ” He too he said trans women are not women because they do not have a uterus.

And he did a weird part about how “amazing” AIDS is and how God sent it to Africa because “they’re dying anyway”:

Pete responded with anger. “Well, look, in his case, I guess he just doesn’t understand the concept of bottle-feeding, let alone the concept of parental leave.”
