Players in the WNBA reflect their bold energy on the field with large shapes and shiny, metallic textures.
The 2022 WNBA season is slowly approaching All-Star Weekend, with the most posh players cheering for their pre-game looks. Fans can recognize which players have recognizable styles to adhere to each week, enhanced with new textures and brands of streetwear. Fans also start to look differently at certain players after watching them constantly lift their clothes.
The seventh part of the series “The W in Designer: Flyest Fits of the Week” shows players who have recorded their personality in the best way with their clothes. Each player in this set takes on new risks related to clothes, such as fuzzy miniature handbags, oversized blazers and shiny pants. There are also balanced proportions in these clothing combinations and clothes that fit perfectly on their body. Similar to playing basketball, it is great for players to take calculated risks as long as it suits them or when they have professional stylists who teach them through it.
Matching her brave energy on the field with the style of streetwear, Arika Ogunbowale worked with a stylist 3k to show up in Dallas in search So fresh and so clean. She wears a Kryptonite Button Down from SATISFACTION x Outkast kolab with silver stacked pants from Valabasas. Inspired by the bold energy of Outcast, the bright colors on her shirt are repeated in accents on the ultra-rare pair of Jordan 1 Low Fragment x Travis Scott sneakers. Studying her sharp accessories reveals a skillful approach to mixing high and low fashion – Ogunbowale wears a simple PLAYBOY Bucket Hat and chic CELINE sunglasses.
Basketball fans have noticed significant changes to Kelsey Plum in his style this season. This Las Vegas Aces player wears a complete look John Geiger, including GRAY SHORT SLEEVED T-SHIRT “JGC STAMP” and JG SZN 1 DUPLE BUNGEE PANTS in black. Working with stylist Sydney Bordonar, Plum is slowly adding unexpected elements such as bright pink and a fuzzy purse from PrettyLittleThing to its distinctive athletic out-of-duty look. Plum is wearing Fendi sunglasses and a new pair of Nike AF1 to complete their outfit.
Celebrating PRIDE night, DiJonai Carrington continues to wear attractive, mostly pink clothes. She wears a pink dress that looks like a Rib Knit Colorblock Panel Tube dress from SHEIN that matches her pink nails. There is an interesting balance of casual elements, such as a bright yellow hat that says “Love is love,” and more formal elements like her Swarovski necklace and Tiffany earrings. Carrington’s outfit always includes an aura of fun, which you can see in her selection of Nike SB Dunk Low in the rare color of Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Dunky.
Lexie Brown proves that combining shorts and boots is the official cool girl move this summer. She wears distressed denim shorts with Givenchy gray Shark Lock boots, which look great on a 5 ′ 9 Los Los Angeles Sparks player. To match the elements of his outfit, Brown combines his gray boots with a dark gray t-shirt from Lone Haute which has abstract mountain graphics. The whole look is a great balance between oversized items, like her Louis Vuitton handbag, and small pieces of clothing and delicate jewelry.
Sue Bird is teaming up with a stylist Courtney Mays, who also works with NBA players to create this look bigger than life. Bird wears Lil Jet sunglasses Oscar and Frank in blue, which matches her oversized Ami Paris jacket. Her collar attracts the eye with the QR code on her T-shirt, which has the important slogan “WE ARE BG”. Seattle Storm’s jeans are from FRAME, and her thin gold chains are from Mayuri. With black-and-white pieces from head to toe, Bird chooses a pair of Nike Dunk Highs from his extensive collection of sneakers.
As part of her team’s Pride Night celebration, Courtney Williams is wearing a custom suit Kashmere Watson. Its tailored look is made of green plaid material, with yellow notes around the collar. Williams and Watson personalized the look with details like embroidering her name inside the jacket. Williams has her own distinctive ice chain number 10 with two layers of pearls for a chic effect, but she also wears a less traditional single earring. Adding a bit of subversiveness to her suit, she also wears leather moccasins with a Gucci-style slip-on emblem.
As players continue to gather in support of Brittney Griner, Nneka Ogwumike integrates her important top “WE ARE BG” into an exceptional outfit. Ogwumike’s shirt is from CONTINUOUSLY, a brand for empowering athletes founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter. This LA Sparks player combines orange text with a pair of glittery orange pants that fit into a pair of her Adidas sneakers. Showing love to her Adidas family, Ogwumike wears a unique pair of SUPERSTAR OT TECH SHOES. Wear minimal accessories, including a pair of gradient cat-eye sunglasses.
