TJ Maxx in which Amber Heard is spotted is a secret gem in the rich Hamptons.
Reality star and Hamptonist Jill Zarin said she was “literally like Saks Fifth Avenue in the Hamptons.”
An East Hampton resident told the TJ Maxx location, “Everybody goes there.”
The biggest public secret in the Hamptons is not the latest opening of a new restaurant or seeing celebrities. It is a chain of discount stores TJ Maxx located in an inconspicuous shopping center next to the Montauk highway.
While the rest of the world stared at Amber Heard buys at the TJ Maxx store last week, the actor – whose high-profile defamation case with ex-husband Johnny Depp ended after the jury found that both sides were responsible for the defamation – he knows something they don’t know: it’s the secret hotbed of the legendary East End.
under the radar, A 33,000-square-foot TJ Maxx branch in the ultra-exclusive hamlet of Bridgehampton – where average house sales is $ 3.62 million – it has almost become a tandem for the budget-conscious elite and summer class.
Mona Sharafa personal shopper in New York, has limited time when he goes to the Hamptons from Manhattan during the summer months, but finds time for TJ Maxx.
“It makes sense to shop there – it’s a big secret,” Sharaf said. “They offer these designer clothes to the neighborhood. They sell based on who the clientele is. That’s why you’ll find nicer things in Bridgehampton compared to Brooklyn.”
Sharaf, who says she brought her customers to the discount chain, said the $ 1,000 budget at TJ Maxx will be bigger than any retail boutique. “Instead of two pieces, you can get six,” she said.
And so that no one would catch her under the sharp fluorescent lights in the shop, Sharaf said there was no shame in her. “I come across friends there – it’s not a shame to get a good job,” she said.
When we were contacted by phone, a TJ Maxx associate at a location in Bridgehampton declined when I asked about well-known customers in the store. “I guess so, especially in the summer, but I don’t know very well. I couldn’t tell you,” an unidentified official said.
But experts from the Hamptons swear by it “Runway” stock store, which includes top designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Badgley Mishka, Balmain and many others. It’s also the part where Heard and her sister, Whitney Henriquez, are filmed shopping.
The best open secret in the Hamptons is also a favorite among local celebrities
“It’s literally like Saks Fifth Avenue in the Hamptons,” plays Hamptons and the alum “The Real Housewives of New York,” Jill Zarin. The reality star, along with her daughter, even did row of candles under their brand Jill & Ally, which is worn in the store. “My friends go there all the time,” said Zarin, who will meet them to buy there or have her boyfriend wait in the car.
Zarin explained the mystique. “They only buy a few pieces of something per store – they want it to be a scavenger hunt,” she said of TJ Maxx’s location. “You can find Tory Burch shoes that might still be in store in town.”
Hamptons insider and real estate agent, Bianca D’Alessio, reality star Discovery + “I’m selling Hamptons“, he called the store a ‘secret gem’ among all the boutiques across the East End.” I’m always on a mission there. You come in with a mission, ”she said.
“Everybody goes there – especially that one,” social beauty and blogger Stacy Geisinger, who owns a mansion in nearby East Hampton, told the Insider store. “It’s a secret hot spot that no one talks about,” she added, noting that “fancy people” eat the Pucci range, Vince, and Valentino on offer. “They don’t want to share, so there’s more for them,” Geisinger, the blogger behind Stacy Knowshe said, noting the competition for limited pieces: “Well, maybe they’d tell me about it, size 14, if they’re size 2.”
Geisinger remembers one woman on a gala tour who took her to the store many years ago. She approached me and said, ‘The best TJ Maxx in the whole country is here in the Hamptons,’ Geisinger said.
There is still one mistake Geisinger warned about: leaving a treacherous mark, which Geisinger says she once noticed on someone in the Hamptons. “If you can find something that fits, and that’s a designer, who cares if it’s from TJ Maxx? No one needs to know – as long as you take off that big label,” she said. “Everyone knows what their label looks like.”
Geisinger loves her printed Pucci dress, which she bought for less than $ 300. She slipped into a tight light-colored dress up Buy lunch for guests at the legendary Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida last winter with confidence. “I felt like a million dollars,” she told the Insider, “but I only spent a few hundred.”
For philanthropist and influencer Jean Shafiroff, he can always find something at the Hamptons location.
“They have almost everything you could want and more than that,” Shafiroff said, adding that she took her friend composer Lucia Hwong Gordon shopping at the store. Shafiroff recalled getting a runway dress for her daughter. “It was designer and a fraction of the price, which was great,” she said. “Let’s face it: everyone loves cheap.”
