COUNTDOWN viewers were disappointed not to see Susie Dent at her usual spot in the dictionary corner on Monday.
A very beloved host was missing Countdown after she contracted Covid, while Judge Rob Rinder jumped in for her.
Host Anne Robinson said in today’s show that the popular smart guy “unfortunately is not with Covid”.
In her place was a TV judge, and Anne said on the show that she would call him Rob when he told anecdotes in Dictionary Corner and Robert when he played Susie Dent.
This is not the first time that Suzy missed the show thanks to Covid, last year she was forced to skip one episode while waiting for the Covid test results.
Suza’s absence comes after she shared a rather interesting word of the day earlier this morning, which may have been a sign that she would miss the show.
“The word of the day is ‘hingum-tringum’ from the 19th century, which means ‘barely noticeable’, or just about hanging out,” she shared on Twitter.
Fans noticed Suza’s absence and reached out to wish her well.


“My older mom kept asking why you weren’t at Countdown. I think it’s cute how she asks. I told her you were working on that other album,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
Another added: “Have you recovered from Covid Susie now? Are you missing Countdown …”
And the third wrote, “When will we see you again at Countdown Susie? Don’t watch if you don’t come back.”
While recovering at home, Susie will most likely still remain flexible for her next appearance on the show after rehearsing her chart 75 times each morning for Countdown.
She said that 75 is one of the four key numbers that appear regularly show’s maths round.
But Susie admitted to still struggling with multiplying 75 by eight.

In an interview with Saga magazine Susie, 57 years old, she said of her mind test: “It is my bête noire.
“If you asked me to multiply 75 by eight, it would still take me 30 seconds.
“Complete mental blockade.
“You’d think I’d be fine after 30 years.”
She said daily online word play Wordle to her it was like an “old baggy cardigan,” adding, “It’s kind of a comfortable blanket.”
