Final year students with three undergraduate fashion programs from the University of Northumbria impressed the judges at this year’s Graduate Fashion Foundation Awards, with 26 shortlisted students in 16 different categories.
This year’s leading event of the Foundation Graduation Fashion Week – the world’s largest exhibition of talents for new graduates – is held from 21st to 25thJune at Coal Drops Yard, London.
Graduate Fashion Week will have a presentation from Northumbria on Friday the 24ththJune, online industry talks, design exhibitions and a digital portfolio platform – provides a great opportunity for final year students to impress potential employers in the industry.
Gayle Cantrell, head of fashion at the University of Northumbria, said: “We are proud to see so many student projects selected by industry judges and recognized nationally – a testament to the hard work of graduates and the commitment of academics and technical support staff. through their diplomas. ”
On Monday, June 20 at 6 pm, there will be an opening event where clothing items from all participating universities will be presented. The collections of fashion students, Melisse Lily Newton and Emily Gibson, were selected to participate in the event by a jury comprising Munroe Bergdorf, Patrick McDowell and Henry Holland.
The opening of the show will be broadcast on the website of Graduate Fashion Week: https://www.graduatefashionweek.com/events/ and the winners of the Graduate Fashion Foundation awards will be announced throughout the week.

The Northumbria School of Design is ranked 11thth nationwide according to the Guardian University Guide 2022, and art and design in Northumbria are ranked 4th in the UK by research power, according to Research Excellence Framework 2021 results.
