Shaughna Phillips of Love Island reveals that there is talk of reuniting rehearsals with producers

Shaughna Phillips has revealed that contestants on Love Island rehearse their speeches with producers before filming.

The 26-year-old, who participated in the 2020 winter series, said that dramatic events around the hearth took hours of filming, and the islanders had to deliver their speeches in three parts for the cameras.

Speaking of Fr. Should I delete it podcast, Shaughna explained, ‘Hours. Hours. Usually you don’t have to work again … if something is very dramatic, then obviously I can’t do it again.

“But when you do, like,‘ I’d like to pair up with this person because … ’you do it in three parts. So you say that, and then you have a big break, so you say the next one, a break. ‘

Detailing the rehearsed nature of the segment, Shaughna added: ‘Somehow you negotiated this with the producer before, that night.

‘So during dinner you kind of talk about it. It really is produced. Somehow they ask you to go to conversations and certain things. It’s a TV show, so I understand.

Shaughna also criticized the popular heartbeat challenge on the show, calling it ‘the meanest thing’ and claiming it was fixed.

She accepted the challenge in which the islanders have to dance for each other while wearing heart monitors, in order to see who increases the heart rate the most.

Shaughna revealed that sexy clothing combinations that contestants must wear are chosen by producers, and Islanders do not have the right to vote.

She described this challenge as ‘the meanest thing ever’ and said that she cried all day before she found out about the scanty clothes she had to wear.

Shaughna admitted: ‘I cried from lunch until the moment I came out [to dance].

I told them [show producers]”I’ll go out naked with nipple fringes, as long as you give me pants, leggings or boots to the thighs. I’ll do whatever you want.”

‘And I was the only girl who didn’t have any of that. I told them, “Maybe I’d just walk. I can’t do this.”

The reality star described the process as ‘so naughty’ and described in detail how she begged the bosses to allow her to change her clothes.

She said, ‘I cried, I said,’ Please, you don’t understand. Please. ‘

‘I really struggled with swollen legs because [of] different heights there [South Africa]. I cried because I felt like garbage, I cried because I was embarrassed. ‘

Shaughna added that she believes the results of the challenge are “rigged” to fit the stories in the villa anyway.

Her partner Callum Jones turned her down because of model Molly Smith at Casa Amour.

She explained, ‘I think it’s rigged. It was written in the competition that mine went up for Callum, and obviously it would have been a better story if mine had gone for Callum and Callum hadn’t gone [up] for me, but I don’t think mine went for him. I’m sure mine went for someone else.

‘Even though I know, or I don’t think that’s true, the nation then looks at me like I look like u ** t. I felt like a donut. ‘

She also described the show’s presence as a ‘job’ and nothing like a relaxing five-star holiday.

She said, ‘You run for four or five hours of sleep, if that’s the case. There are scenes of me with a wine glass coming out of the steam, because there is tea in it. It’s just me trying to stay awake. ‘

The former Islander also revealed a unique oddity regarding the slow-moving dance scenes on the show.

Shaughna explained that either the music is not played and the Islanders dance in silence – or a song is randomly played that is edited for the audience at home.

She said: ‘Slow-mos music is not played. All you can hear is our feet hitting the floor.

‘It’s the most awkward time. Or they’ll play music, but it’s like … you can’t sing [along to] because they will put different music over it [in the edit]so we literally had this trick where we put ice in our mouths … to keep us from singing. ‘

Shaughna was also honest about ‘almost fainting’ before entering the villa because of her extreme gym routine combined with so few meals.

She described getting ready to enter the villa as ‘preparing for war’, saying: ‘I would literally go to the gym and almost faint, so I had to start eating more just to get to that point, so I was in a healthier situation when came to the Island of Love, but apparently when it happened, it was as if all systems had disappeared.

‘I went to the gym maybe five or six times a week. But now I am in a position that when I go to the gym, I try to look at it as a treat for myself, as if this is your time, just go and enjoy, while then it was like do or die. ‘
