Queen Elizabeth II he wastes no time paying homage to his late father Father’s Day. The Queen posted a photo of her on June 19 when she ruled as a princess and her father King George VI back in 1946. The official royal Instagram page @theroyalfamily posted a super cute picture with the caption: “I wish all our companions a very happy Father’s Day. 📸 Queen (then Princess Elizabeth) with her father King George VI in 1946. ”

In the super cute photo we see a father and daughter duo standing upright, beaming with pride at each other while at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

King George VI passed away 70 years ago, in February 1952, at the age of 56 from health complications and a possible blood clot in his heart. Elizabeth was only 25 years old when she lost her father and had to take power on the throne.

The Queen constantly pays tribute to her father, from the announcements for Father’s Day to the small traditions she adheres to. For example, according to Hello! Magazineshe maintains festive lighting around the royal estate until February 6 – the day her father passed away.

It is clear that she was and will always be proud to be her father’s daughter and we love the way she paid tribute to him today.
