Prince William and Kate Middleton surprisingly traveled to Cardiff – the capital of Wales – during Queen Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee celebrations.

The Epsom derby was held during the surprise trip of William and Middleton. Princess Anne attended on behalf of Queen Elizabeth; The palace said on Friday that she would not attend.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took their two children to visit: Prince George (8) and Princess Charlotte (7). Their youngest son, Prince Louis, 4, was not present. Kensington Palace shared that this is the first visit of George and Charlotte to Wales.

QUEEN ELIZABETH THROUGHOUT THE YEARS

Charlotte wore a dark blue coat, with blue Mary Jane shoes and white stockings as she held Middleton’s hand as she waved the streets full of people.

Middleton wore a long red coat, which matched the red dragon on the Welsh flag. Both William and George looked elegant in navy suits with a light blue shirt underneath.

William and Middleton traveled to meet the performers involved in the Queen’s platinum jubilee concert, which will take place at the castle on Saturday afternoon.

Performances will be held in honor of the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, including contributions from Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, Aled Jones, Shan Cothi, Mike Peters, John Owen Jones, Owain Wyn Evans and Pendyrus Male Choir.

Like Wales, Buckingham Palace will hold its concert in honor of Queen Elizabeth.

“The Platinum Party at the Palace” is a star-studded concert event held on Saturday night at Buckingham Palace. It is expected to be the most impressive event during the four-day weekend of the ceremony.

Some of the biggest names in music, including rock, pop and classical, will take the stage during the platinum jubilee. The three-tiered lineup will feature, among others, Diana Ross, Queen + Adam Lambert, Alicia Keys, Duran Duran, Rod Stewart, Andrea Bocelli and Nile Rodgers. For Ross, it will be her first appearance in the UK in 15 years.
