NICK Knowles was brought to tears during DIY SOS after a family daughter with a disability tragically died just two weeks before filming.
Many families deserve it DIY SOS‘s help – but the Chapman family has gone through a torturous ordeal.
Dad Peter was building a much-needed allowance for his family in their house when he fell ill.
The 60-year-old former car mechanic and hospital porter spends 24 hours a day caring for his wife Sarah and daughter Suzanne, who are in various stages of a long-term genetic disorder called myotonic dystrophy.
Symptoms of the condition include a gradual worsening of muscle loss and weakness because they often contract and cannot relax.
Suzanne’s daughter, 35, is 12 years old and works inspiringly several mornings a week in the kindergarten she attended as a baby.


While mom Sarah now has an early stage of the disease, she walks short distances with the help of a walking frame.
The family was shaken by a tragedy just weeks before the arrival of the DIY SOS team when daughter Margaret who had the same condition sadly passed away.
“As time went on, we realized that it would get worse – and it did,” he explained during the emotional episode.
The audience soon accepted Twitter in their crowds to express their thoughts on the heartbreaking story.
In addition to a series of red love hearts, one person wrote: “It’s so sad to hear the story of the Chapman family.”
Echoing their comments, someone else said, “Tonight’s episode of DIY SOS made me cry. Really heartbreaking.”
Nick and the rest of the gang started fixing things Peter had tried to do himself.
Sarah tells the emotional Nick that she loved that Margaret could see the transformation, adding, “I don’t think that thank you will cover that.”
While Peter, who admits that what happened is “amazing”, thanks the DIY SOS team and says that their work will “make a big difference” in their lives.
