A spectacular fashion show “AFFERA in carpets” and a presentation of carpets were held in Baku.

The large-scale event was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azernews reports.

Inspired by Azerbaijani carpets, especially from the Karabagh carpet school, the project focuses on preserving historical traditions in a modern way.

Magnificent dresses designed by renowned national designer Rufat Ismayil were presented at the fashion show. The fashion collection is designed based on the motifs of Azerbaijani carpets.

The art of carpet weaving has been passed down from generation to generation in Azerbaijan for centuries. Various carpet motifs have always given impetus to creative ideas and works of art.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation is successfully implementing a number of projects to support, preserve and promote Azerbaijani carpet weaving around the world.

In 2010, the art of the Azerbaijani carpet was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.

Listed on the UNESCO list, the national traditional art of carpet weaving once again draws attention to new projects.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of the board of Azerkhalcha OJSC, Emin Mammadov, emphasized that Azerbaijani carpet weaving has a long history.

“Azerbaijani carpet weaving has a long history, as a classical art. Every kind of art, including carpet art, is on the path of development and search for new ideas that are realized in cooperation with designers and conceptual artists. Thanks to that, we are realizing new conservation projects and the works of Azerkhalch OJSC presented here, based on five well-known carpet motifs, have been produced in a limited number of 25 copies. .

The show featured 50 dresses from the “Sumakh Haute Couture” and “Sumakh Affordable Luxury” collections.

So far, the Sumakh Haute Couture fashion collection has been previously demonstrated in Paris and Moscow. The “Sumakh Affordable Luxur” collection was presented for the first time in Baku.

The works of art created on the basis of five well-known carpet motifs included in the collection stand out.

The “Folding-Folding” carpet is exceptional among Karabakh carpets in terms of its artistic characteristics, because it is part of a set of patterns related to the “Folding-Folding” carpet series.

Elements of another work of art, remarkable for its beauty, come from the Karabakh carpet. Seemingly composed of repetitive elements at first glance, this composition is scattered like countless stars.

The artwork called “Nakhchivan” was created from various carpet elements, examples of the Karabakh school of carpets, and new compositions using Khatai and Chalabi carpet patterns.

The artist was inspired by the elements of hunting carpets (Karabakh school of carpets) and used elements of the composition “Band-Rumi”, which is widely seen in Azerbaijani and Middle Eastern art schools. As a result, he created a beautiful artistic composition with lattice content.

The work of art “Pazyryk” originated from the eponymous carpet related to Turkish origin and is considered the oldest carpet in the world (dating back 2,500 years), which is kept in the Russian Hermitage Museum.
