On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the unveiling of the painting during a visit to their eponymous area of ​​Cambridgeshire, a district in the city of Cambridge. The couple received the title of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge from Queen Elizabeth on their wedding day in 2011.

The couple, both 40 years old, visited the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge University, where they viewed works of art. The work was commissioned in 2021 by the Cambridgeshire Royal Portrait Fund, which holds the Cambridge Community Foundation, as a gift to Cambridgeshire. It was painted by award-winning British portraitist Jamie Coreth.

According to the Fine Arts Commission, the public can see the portrait at the Fitzwilliam Museum for three years. The artwork will then be exhibited in other social spaces and galleries throughout Cambridgeshire.
