“But there was no formal party. The idea was to make it very relaxed and casual, with people being free to enter and exit as they wish.

“It was a beautiful opportunity for the other royal children to meet Lilibet for the first time.

“And as her first birthday is a big milestone, there have been many discussions ahead of time about the gifts she will give her on that day.

“One idea that proved very popular was the pink Volkswagen Beetle 75-pound toy ($ 129), which was spotted at Selfridges.”

The sun she revealed over the weekend that Lilibet had finally met her great-grandmother Queen, after whom she was named.

Her birthday was celebrated on the social networks of the royal family yesterday.

An emoji balloon and a message were posted on the royal family’s Twitter account: “I wish Lilibet a very happy first birthday!”

Her grandparents Charles and Camilla and uncle and aunt, William and Kate, also posted birthday messages online.

Neither Lilibet nor her three-year-old brother Archie have been seen in public at any of the jubilee celebrations.

Meghan and Harry’s visit to the UK is Lilibett’s first – and also the first time she has stayed at Frogmore Cottage, where Archie spent his first year until the family moved to California in March 2020.

Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank and their son August have lived in the house since November 2020, but they moved out earlier this year.

Harry and Meghan have now renewed their property lease for 12 months.
