Simpson and McKeon were on the headlines recently, following last month’s Australian Swimming Championships. The two have qualified for the Australian Commonwealth Games team and will head to Birmingham later this year, while McKeon will also be in action at the World Championships in Budapest in June.

Simpson, who returned to swimming only 18 months ago after 10 years out of the pool after a successful career in show business, shared footage of a wonderful moment when he was told he would represent Australia for the first time at the Commonwealth Games.

The 25-year-old was sitting next to McKeon in the stands in Adelaide last month when he received a text message informing him of his choice, and he was visibly emotional as McKeon hugged him in a warm embrace.

Simpson qualified for the Dolphin team after finishing third in the men’s 100m butterfly final in the national stands.

“To be honest, I went through the roof alone. I held my breath all day, all week. It is a great relief to finally get that confirmation and go, ”Simpson told Amazon Prime Video at the time.

“When I got the message, I was sitting in my seat and I just got down and started hugging everyone I saw.

“It simply came to our notice then. It may not feel real until I’m in the blocks in England. I get lost in words.

“I have already made so many great new friends and I am excited about the new experiences that are coming. We hope this is the first of several. ”

McKeon, the pool’s golden girl at last year’s Tokyo Olympics, was romantically linked to swimmer Kyle Chalmers in September, sparking unfounded rumors that the 2016 Rio gold medalist will swim the 100-meter butterfly in Budapest to prevent the Simpsons. team at the World Cup.

Chalmers called the rumors “pathetic.” when asked about the situation on the radio last month.

“It’s very pathetic. It’s the biggest joke I’ve ever heard to be honest with you, “Chalmers told 2Day FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin.

“I started as a butterfly. All my career I wanted to be a butterfly, only my body didn’t allow it.

“For me, being able to just swim a butterfly is so special and something I’m so proud of… that I can go back to the event where I grew up and where I grew up is all the motivation I need.

“Unfortunately, I am the one who should stand up and apologize and show me as a villain when I gave everything I did to my sport and gave everything to my country during this last eight-year period that I was in the Australian swimming team.”
