Johnny Depp will reunite with his lawyer Camille Vasqueznext month for the upcoming trial, according to court documents entered by Insider.
Vasquez has been named as one of Depp’s lawyers in a case brought against him by Gregg “Rocky” Brooks, the site manager for Depp’s 2018 film “City of Lies.”
In a civil lawsuit filed with the Los Angeles High Court, Brooks stated that Depp hit him twice in the ribs, and then shouted: “I’ll give you $ 100,000 to hit me now!” while he was filming in LA.
Brooks is suing for undisclosed damages on 10 counts of the indictment, including assault, emotional stress, unlawful termination and retaliation.
In the lawsuit, Brooks claimed that on April 13, 2017, when he informed Depp about the restrictions on filming for the film set, Depp became angry and verbally and physically abused him.
Brooks stated that Depp’s breath “smells like alcohol” and that Depp’s bodyguards had to physically restrain the actor after he attacked Brooks. Brooks also claimed that he was fired because he refused to remain silent about the incident.
Miriam Segal, who was also named as the accused, was the producer of The City of Lies.
“On the Monday after the incident on April 16, 2017, the plaintiff returned to the production office to work on the completion of the show,” Brooks’ lawyers wrote. “Upon arrival, the prosecutor was informed that Segal wanted to write and sign a statement stating that he would not sue the production. When the prosecutor refused to write such a statement, his services were immediately terminated.”
Vasquez represented Depp in his defamation case against Amber Heard, in which a jury found both Depp and Heard responsible but granted Depp more compensation.
The jury awarded Depp $ 15 million in damages, finding that Heard slandered him for describing himself as a victim of domestic violence in a text published in the Washington Post in 2018, in which Depp is not directly named. Heard received $ 2 million in damages for Depp’s lawyer’s claim that her allegations of sexual assault were “fraud.”
She denied being in a romantic relationship with Depp, and called the rumors of dating “sexist.”
