Brad Pitt, Joseph Kosinski and the Apple Formula One racing film team – The Hollywood Reporter

In a deal that could change the game and affect how streamers and movie distributors coexist, Apple has struck a pact to buy an unnamed Formula One racing movie that is Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski directed by and brad pitt star-bound, Hollywood Reporter he learned.

Apple has previously released movies in theaters, with an animated film Wolfwalkers enjoying the 30-day window and Macbeth’s tragedy got 21 days. However, these were editions for smaller awards, not tent-style extravagances.

In the second, insiders say the theatrical component is structured in such a way that Apple and filmmakers share 50-50 downloads from the big screen release. The single contract, in essence, pays the creative team in three ways: their advance fees, their hefty redemption fees and theater support. Sources say Kosinski, who will also produce, and Bruckheimer will see payday days long in the eight-figure figure, with Pitt and his company reaching $ 40 million to $ 50 million. Apple had no comment.

A search for a writer followed, with the initials Maverick writer Kruger is chosen, ahead of a fateful meeting just before Thanksgiving between Kosinski and Pitt, where Kosinski persuaded the actor to join the racing team for an experienced retired storyteller to mentor a promising rookie.

In December, the CAA handed over the project to studios and steamships in a short 30-minute period that elicited immediate offers. It eventually came down to Apple, Netflix, Amazon and MGM, then run by Michael De Luca. (The latter CEO is now ua leading film business in Warner Bros. and could be in a position to compete once again for this when it comes to the distribution aspect.)
