TWO officers were suspended after they shared the news of Bob Saget’s death before his family was notified.
Now it turns out that Florida deputies Emiliano Silva and Steven Reed told friends and family about his death before the comedian’s loved ones said.
Both were suspended for more than three days, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Silva – who responded to the scene – reportedly told his brother about the death. His brother then tweeted, “RIP Bob Saget.”
The tweet was later deleted, but not before it was seen by news outlets that began inquiring about the media.
Reed – who was off duty – reportedly told his neighbors about his death after attending his show.
He is said to have written, “He better keep his tickets. Maybe that was his last performance.”
said Orange County Sheriff John Mina The Hill: “This case emphasizes how important it is to give detectives in death investigations time to provide information to close relatives before this information is disseminated to the public.
“Deputies admitted their misconduct and were disciplined for their actions.”
Police entered the star’s room after he did not check out at the scheduled time, and the hotel received a call from his worried family, who were unable to get it.
Saget was found not reacting as he lay on his back in bed and was cold to the touch.
Orlando police later released photos from the hotel room.
The photos show that he may have used the bathroom before going to bed, because there was a towel and toiletries in the bathtub under the shower and on the counter.
Investigators said they found no signs of poor play, concluding that Saget probably fell backwards and hit his head somewhere in the room before he died in bed.
Toxicological analysis also did not reveal any illicit drugs or toxins in his system at the time of his death.
Police stated that Saget’s room was “tidy”, and his personal belongings were neatly placed on the nightstand, TV stand, closet and bathroom.
There were no traces of blood or body fluids on the bedding, pillows or elsewhere in the room, police wrote.
There were also reportedly no signs of trauma to Saget’s head or body, except for mild swelling and a small bruise in the corner of his left eye.
In an autopsy report, Joshua Stephany, chief medical investigator in the District Nine Medical Investigators’ Office, said the nature of Saget’s injuries, combined with the fact that the skin on the back of his neck remained intact, led him to believe his fatal injuries were most likely caused. ” something hard, covered with something soft “.
Kevin Stone promoted what will prove to be Saget’s last stand-up performance.
He told the Sun. his favorite comic was “same old Bob” when he saw it on the night of January 8, just hours before his death.
Stone, who previously promoted two more Saget events in 2016 and 2020, said that “there are no indications” that something is wrong with the Full House member, describing him as talkative and engaged.
Stone said it in hours which precedes Saget’s last showhe spent time in the greenery of the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall in Jacksonville telling him how much he loves his “friends, wife and family”.
Saget was best known for his portrait of single father Danny Taner in the sitcom Full House, as well as the wise host of America’s funniest home videos.
He was on the road as part of his I Don’t Do Negative Comedy Tour and said just before his death that he enjoyed warm audience receptions in Orlando and the Ponte Vedra Beach resort.
