Baku, June 7, AZERTACH

A fashion show of dresses made according to carpet motifs was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

The Sumakh fashion collection, prepared by Rufat Ismayil, founder of the AFFFAIR brand, was inspired by ancient carpet decorations – elements of the carpet “Folding-Rasklop”, “Garabagh”, “Nakhchivan”, “Hunting”, “Pazyryk”, was demonstrated. during a presentation at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

In Azerbaijan, one of the oldest carpet-making centers in the world, this type of art has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries, preserving it to this day. Carpet motifs have always given impetus to new ideas and the creation of new works of art. Supporting the perpetuation and development of the carpet school in Azerbaijan, as well as its promotion around the world, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has implemented a number of projects and organized exhibitions both in Azerbaijan and abroad. Inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the traditional art of carpet making in Azerbaijan delights the eye in new projects. Created by fashion designer Rufat Ismayil – who inspired the motifs, rich colors and patterns of Azerbaijani carpets, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation – dedicated to the victory in Azerbaijan in Garabah, the Sumakh collection also attracts attention from this point of view.

Noting that the art of carpet making is still in development today, the president of “Azerkhalcha” OJSC Emin Mammadov spoke about the reasons for the project. World-renowned photographer Reza Deghati also shared his thoughts on the collection.

At the presentation entitled “AFFERA in carpets”, a fashion show of dresses from the collections “Sumakh Haute Couture” and “Sumakh Affordable Luxury” was held. “Sumakh Haute Couture” has so far been shown in Paris and Moscow. And the collection “Sumakh affordable luxury” will be first shown in Baku.

The works of art based on 5 well-known carpet motifs included in the collection stand out. The “Folding-folding” carpet is exceptional among Garabaška carpets in terms of its artistic characteristics, because it is part of a set of patterns related to the “Folding-folding” carpet series.

Elements of another work of art, exceptional in its beauty, come from the carpet “Garabagh”. At first glance, it seems to consist of repetitive elements, this composition is scattered like countless stars.

The artwork called “Nakhchivan” was created from various carpet elements, examples of the “Garabagh” carpet school, and new compositions using both “Khatai” and “Chelebi” carpet patterns.

Inspired by the beauty of the elements related to the “hunting” carpets of Garabah, the artist, using elements of the composition “Band-Rumi”, which is widely seen in Azerbaijani and Middle Eastern art schools, created an artistic composition with lattice content.

The work of art called “Pazyryk” took its sources from the eponymous carpet of Turkish origin and is considered the oldest carpet in the world (dating back 2,500 years), kept in the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. Russia.

The goal of the project, which was developed by drawing inspiration from Azerbaijani carpets, especially from the carpet school in Karabakh, is to perpetuate the historical tradition in a modern way.
